Singapore, May 27 (PTI) — A multi-party parliamentary delegation from India met with a senior minister in Singapore on Tuesday to discuss India's stance on recent events, including the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and the country’s evolving counter-terrorism policies. The delegation, under the leadership of JD(U) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Kumar Jha, had just arrived from South Korea when they held discussions with Sim Ann, Senior Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Home Affairs in Singapore.
The Indian High Commission in Singapore conveyed through a post on X that the delegation emphasized India’s perspective on several crucial developments, particularly in response to the Pahalgam terror attack, Operation Sindoor, and India's proactive measures in combating terrorism. The schedule for the delegation's visit includes meetings with Singaporean ministers, parliamentarians, think tanks, academics, business leaders, media representatives, and the Indian diaspora.
Prior to these engagements, High Commissioner Shilpak Ambule apprised the delegation of their objectives in Singapore, underscoring India's determination to tackle terrorism. This delegation is among seven Indian groups visiting 33 global capitals to raise awareness of Pakistan's alleged terrorism affiliations and to clarify that the recent conflict stemmed from the Pahalgam attack, contrary to Islamabad's claims implicating Operation Sindoor.
The tensions between India and Pakistan have intensified following the Pahalgam incident. India conducted precision strikes on May 7 targeting terror facilities in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. On subsequent days, May 8, 9, and 10, Pakistan carried out attacks on Indian military bases, prompting stern responses from India. The sequence of military exchanges concluded with an agreement to cease hostilities after discussions between their respective directors-general of military operations on May 10.
