In his first public appearance since being wounded in a gun attack earlier this month, Pakistan's former PM Imran Khan announced that his party will resign from all assembly seats.

Addressing a massive rally in Rawalpindi, Khan called off his party's protest march to Islamabad to avert any destruction or chaos.

He however announced to continue his protest against the present govt until new elections were announced.

Khan has been holding countrywide protests to push for early elections since being ousted from power in April.

Elections are not due in Pakistan until the term of the current National Assembly gets over in August 2023.
