Controversy continues to hound Imran Khan, even as he seems to have bought a political reprieve by having the National Assembly dissolved. Now, a friend of Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi, is rumoured to have fled Pakistan amid allegations of corruption.
Farah Khan reportedly left for Dubai on April 3, and her husband flew to the US, amid reports that they might be arrested if a new government comes to power in Islamabad. Opposition parties have accused Farah Khan of orchestrating a scam worth 6 billion Pakistani rupees at the behest of Imran Khan and his wife. Farah Khan allegedly received huge sums of money for having officers transferred to postings of their choice.
A photograph of Farah Khan on board a plane also emerged on social media, with users claiming that the bag she was carrying was worth $90,000. Opposition party PMLN's Miftah Ismail tweeted asking whether the plane belonged to the Punjab or federal government, or a business tycoon.
Chaudhry Sarwar, who was recently sacked as the governor of Pakistan's Punjab province, and Aleem Khan, a financier of Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have reportedly echoed the allegations against Farah Khan.
