Amid continuing turmoil in Pakistan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan has expressed fear that he could be murdered if he attends court proceedings physically.

Khan wrote a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Atta Bandial on 20 March 2023, requesting him to allow the former premier to join court proceedings virtually.

In an address to the nation on the same day, Khan claimed that a "death trap" was laid out for him at the court complex in Islamabad on 18 March, when he had to attend a Toshakhana case hearing.
