A French minister has sparked a controversy by appearing on the cover of the adult magazine Playboy.

Feminist author-turned-minister Marlene Schiappa said that the move was in defence of "the right of women to do what they want with their bodies".

However, Schiappa's decision has reportedly angered some of her colleagues as the Emmanuel Macron government faces protests against its move to raise the retirement age by 2 years.

Some felt that a minister wearing designer dresses for a glamour magazine sent the wrong message to the public, as per an AFP report.
