Violent protests broke out in France's capital city Paris on the evening of June 27. Mobs set fire to barricades and garbage bins, vandalised a bus stop, and threw firecrackers at police personnel in Nanterre, as per reports.

The spark was the shooting and death of a teenage boy allegedly at the hands of a police officer. The 17-year-old was shot after he allegedly failed to comply with an order to stop his car.

To control the subsequent violence, police used tear gas and dispersion grenades. At least 9 persons were arrested.
