After a weeks-long manhunt across four countries, Philippine authorities have arrested Alice Guo, a former mayor accused of spying for China.
Guo, who denies the allegations, was accused of protecting online casinos that were fronts for scam centers and human trafficking syndicates Bamban.
Her arrest in Indonesia comes amid tensions between the Philippines and China over the South China Sea.
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said Guo would be flown back to the Philippines, stating that her arrest is a 'warning to those who attempt to evade justice'.
Guo's case has sparked fury in the Philippines and drawn international attention, with China remaining silent on the allegations.
