Veteran Watergate reporter Bob Woodward revealed in his new book that former US president Donald Trump secretly sent Covid test kits to Russian president Vladimir Putin despite a shortage in the US during the pandemic.
Putin accepted the supplies but sought to avoid political fallout, urging Trump not reveal the dispatch of medical equipment.
According to Woodward, Putin told Trump ‘I don't want you to tell anybody because people will get mad at you, not me.’ Woodward wrote Trump also spoke multiple times with Putin after leaving the office.
