Cyclone Mocha: Myanmar coastal towns heavily hit, Bangladesh avoids storm fury

Cyclone Mocha caused extensive damage in Myanmar on May 14, 2023, while sparing a densely-populated refugee cluster in neighbouring Bangladesh.

At least 3 people died in Myanmar. The towns of Sittwe, Kyaukpyu, and Gwa were heavily impacted, with damage to houses, electrical transformers, cell phone towers, boats and lampposts, as per officials.

The cyclone also tore roofs off of sports buildings on the Coco Islands.
