Melbourne, Aug 26 (PTI) – Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has made a significant accusation against Iran, claiming that the Iranian government orchestrated at least two antisemitic attacks within Australia. As a result, the country is set to expel the Iranian ambassador on Tuesday.

Albanese disclosed that Australia's intelligence services have established a connection between Iran and recent assaults targeting a restaurant in Sydney and a mosque in Melbourne.

These incidents are part of a surge in antisemitic activities in both cities, coinciding with the onset of the Israel-Hamas conflict in 2023.

"ASIO, our primary domestic intelligence agency, has compiled substantial intelligence leading to a troubling conclusion. The Iranian government directed at least two of these attacks," Albanese stated to the press. Iran attempted to obscure its involvement, but ASIO confidently attributes the attacks to Iran. (AP) GSP
