Arrest warrant against Imran Khan: watch why Election Commission of Pakistan wants ex-PM behind bars

In fresh trouble for Imran Khan, an arrest warrant has been issued against the former Prime Minister of Pakistan.

The Election Commission of Pakistan on 10 January 2023 issued bailable arrest warrants against Imran Khan, and two leaders of his PTI political party - Fawad Chaudhry and Asad Umar.

The case relates to alleged contempt of the election authority.

Khan and other leaders of his party regularly refer to the election commission as a partisan and biased body. They have even called it a "subsidiary of the PML-N", which is the current ruling party.
