Around 2 weeks after a 'brain-eating amoeba' killed a teenager in Kerala, a similar case has been reported from the United States of America.

A 2-year-old boy in the US state of Nevada died on July 19 due to an infection of Naegleria fowleri, which is commonly referred to as 'brain-eating amoeba'.

He is believed to have been infected while playing in the water in Ash Springs.

On July 6, a 15-year-old boy died due to infection from the same pathogen.
