5 dead after passenger plane collides with coast guard aircraft at Japan airport: report

Five of the six crew members on the Coast Guard aircraft which collided with a passenger plane of the Japan Airlines at Tokyo airport have reportedly died.

The captain of the aircraft is said to have survived the incident.

On the other hand, all 379 passengers of Japan Airlines flight JAL-516 were evacuated safely before the plane was engulfed by fire.

Coast Guard spokesperson Yoshinori Yanagishima confirmed the collision between the passenger plane and its flight MA-722, a Bombardier Dash-8.

Horrifying visuals surfaced that showed the plane on fire while being on the move on the airport's runway.
