A preliminary probe into the killing of three hostages by Israeli military in Gaza has revealed that the trio were mistaken as enemy and shot dead.
According to the IDF investigation, a soldier who was stationed identified the three people who held a long stick that had a white fabric attached to it. The report states that, for some reason, the soldier felt threatened and opened fire at the group.
The IDF probe concluded that they were killed because the troops did not follow the army's rules of engagement.
