According to a study published in the Journal Anaesthesia, working night shifts could damage a person's DNA. This can increase the risk of cancer and various cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases. For the study, blood samples of 49 healthy full-time doctors were taken at different times. The result showed that doctors who worked night shifts had a lower DNA repair gene expression than those who weren't required to work over night.
