Just a day after the Manchester Test was cancelled due to Covid-19 scare in the Indian camp, English cricketers Jonny Bairstow, David Malan and Chris Woakes have decided to withdraw from the UE leg of IPL 2021.
It is learnt that the trio has chosen to put country before franchise cricket as before a busy winter that features the World T20 and the Ashes. Players from both sides flying to the United Arab Emirates this weekend to begin a six-day quarantine before the IPL restarts on 19 September.
While Moeen Ali and Sam Curran, who were part of the Test set-up, will travel to play for CSK, Bairstow, Woakes and Malan have told their franchises they are no longer available. Ben Stokes and Jos Buttler had already withdrawn, while Jofra Archer is out until 2022 with an elbow injury.
