As Covid-19 case count drops the demand for medical oxygen has eased leading ministry of home affairs (MHA) to allow supply of oxygen to certain industries on a temporary basis. This is of course conditional. Oxygen supply has been allowed subject to ensuring an adequate supply of the lifesaving gas to hospitals and other medical purposes.

Industries that can now use liquid oxygen include continuous process industries, furnaces, refineries, steel, aluminium, copper processing plants, infrastructure projects. Exporters of manufacturing sector requiring oxygen for production, and food processing units have also been allowed to use oxygen.

The government in April diverted all the liquid oxygen for medical use as several states reported a shortage in the wake of the Covid crisis
