With an eye on Paris Olympics 2024, govt revamps Mission Olympic cell

After a stellar show at the Tokyo Olympics, the government has revamped the Mission Olympic Cell in order to further improve India's performance in the next Olympics, which is less than three years away.  

Mission Olympic cell is an initiative run by Sports Ministry which oversees India's preparation for the Olympics through Target Olympic Podium Scheme (TOPS).

The revamped Olympic cell will have former hockey captains Sardar Singh, Viren Rasquinha, footballer Bhaichang Bhutia, long jumper Anju Bobby, rifle shooter Anjali Bhagwat, table tennis star Monalisa Mehta and shuttler Trupti Murgunde. 

India returned with their best medal tally of 7 medals, including a historic gold in athletics at the Tokyo Olympics. Haryana lad Neeraj Chopra became the first Indian to win an individual gold in Athletics.
