Serena Williams's campaign at Wimbledon came to an abrupt end after she was ruled out of the 1st round game due to a leg injury. The 23-time Grand Slam winner was up against Aliaksandra Sasnovich at the centre court when she slipped and twisted her ankle near the baseline. She then took a medical timeout which wasn't helpful as she tried to continue playing. The 39-year-old then eventually took the decision to retire as she walked out of the centre court in tears. The 7-time singles champion at Wimbledon was also the finalist in the last two editions of 2018 & 2019.
