New York-based muralist Matthew Willey is on a unique mission- to hand-paint 50,000 individual bees on buildings across the world to highlight the ever-growing threat faced by them.
He painted his first bee mural in 2015 in LaBella, Florida and ever since, there was no looking back. Willey even received donations by passer-bys for his initiative.
He has already covered 5500 of the insects in 30 murals in the past five years, a Reuters report said. From museums, to schools and municipal buildings, Willey has painted numerous buildings under his 'Good of the Hive' project.
Through this project, he hopes to bring awareness on the threats faced by the pollinators.
