While face masks and sanitisers keep flying off of shelves, there are some products which are not doing as well. One such item-- lipsticks have become a victim of coronavirus as people stop buying the cosmetic product that no one can see anymore under their face covering. An expenditure report conducted Japan's Ministry of External Affairs in March found that spending on lipstick fell by 22.5 per cent from the same month last year. A representative from a Japanese cosmetic giant told scmp.com that while sales of all make-up products were down in the first quarter of 2020, lipsticks were the worst hit.
