In November 2019, a casket of 12 bottles of Bordeaux wine was flown up to the International Space Station, but not meant for the consumption of astronauts! They've been sent for an experiment to see the impact of weightlessness and radiation on the ageing process. The experiment is being undertaken by universities in France and Germany. After a year, they will be compared to wine kept on Earth at the same temperature. According to NASA, the aim is to understand the 'ageing of complex multicomponent liquids in a space environment'.
