Americans have a special love for guacamole, and as avocado prices shoot up in the US, a new controversy about the green furit has surfaced. A Los Angeles publication called LA Taco decided to test out a fake guac recipe, and asserted that many restaurants might be duping customers in the name of authentic guacamole. Mission Produce is the largest grower and distributor of avocados in the world, and in an interview with The New York Times, the company's CEO said that the company was 'scrambling' to keep up with America's booming demand for the fruit. Sparked by a Twitter user's post who accused a restaurant of using making guac sans avocado, Twitterati soon caught up reportingtheir own scam experiences.
