A serious bug with popular messaging platform WhatsApp discovered in August, has now been revealed by global cyber security firm Check Point. The bug could reportedly be triggered by a user editing message parameters with debugging tools on the WhatsApp Web interface, consequently crashing the app for all members of a group chat. The crash could then only be fixed by uninstalling and reinstalling the app, but would render the group chat and its history inaccessible to its members. WhatsApp had patched this bug in September with version 2.19.58, but users with older versions could still be vulnerable.
