There is a growing sense of burnout amongst the working class as the pandemic enters year two and the lines between office and personal hours disappear.
A Goldman survey on the firm's working conditions recently disclosed that first-year analysts were working 14 hours a day; 7 days a week and getting less than five hours of sleep every night.
Microsoft polled 30,000 people from a variety of companies in 31 countries and it revealed that 46% of global workers are considering leaving their employers this year as they are "struggling" in pandemic work conditions. The data also found that 54% of workers said that they are overworked and 39% said that they are exhausted.
Employers have started to take notice globally and resetting their ways first up by hiring more to distribute the workload. Top 4 banks in the US ; JPMorgan, Goldman Sachs, Citigroup and Bank of America have listed a 175 vacancies in hope of lowering workload on associates. The new CEO at Citi has also banned Zoom on Friday and announced a Citi Reset Day to ease the burnout many are feeling.
Round 1 of the pandemic work wheel has gone from Zoom to doom, many hoping year 2 will pen a different story .
