US President Joe Biden is set to meet his Chinese counterpart at an economic summit in San Francisco amid fraught bilateral relations.
Xi Jinping skipped the recent G20 summit in India, delaying the faceoff with Biden. They last met in November 2022.
Biden’s plan is to ‘manage the competition and prevent the downside risk of conflict,’ an administration official told Associated Press.
Biden may press Xi on using China’s influence on North Korea. Pyongyang’s repeated missile tests and weapons deal with Russia may be discussed.
