Once you've applied the henna paste onto your hands, leave it on for a longer duration before removing it. Aim for at least 6-8 hours or overnight.
After applying the henna paste, keep it moist by dabbing it with a sugar-water solution or lemon-sugar mixture.
Heat helps intensify the color of mehndi. Try holding your hands over steam or warm air or wrapping your hands with a towel or plastic wrap.
Try to avoid washing your hands with water after removing the mehndi. It’s best to wait for at least 12-24 hours before washing your hands.
Mix equal parts lemon juice and sugar, then gently dab it onto the dried henna design using cotton or cloth. This helps to seal the mehndi colour.
After the henna has fully dried and the paste has been removed, moisturise your hands regularly. This helps to keep the skin healthy too.
Even after removing mehndi try to keep your hands warm. Heat helps to oxidize the henna, resulting in a deeper and darker color.
Remember that the final colour of your henna stain will develop gradually over the next 24-48 hours, so be patient for the darkest color to come.
