Sharpen your scissors

You do not need to go anywhere to re-sharpen those blunt knives and scissors lying around. You can easily sharpen them at home with these easy tricks.

Using glass bottles

Take old glass bottles and try to cut through the edges with your scissors. This will sharpen the blades.

Aluminium foil

Fold a piece of aluminum foil several times and then cut through it with your scissors. This helps to smooth out and sharpen the edges of the blades.

Sand paper

Take a piece of fine-grit sandpaper and make several cuts with the scissors. This abrasion will help to sharpen the blades.

Sharpening stone

If you have a sharpening stone or a whetstone at home, you can use it to sharpen the scissors and knives.

Steel wool

Similar to sandpaper, steel wool can be used to sharpen scissors. Simply make several cuts through a pad of steel wool to sharpen the blades.

Sharpening rod

If you have a ceramic or diamond-coated sharpening rod you can use it to sharpen the scissors. Run the blades along the rod at the correct angle.
