75th Republic Day

On Jan 26, 2024, India will observe its 75th Republic Day, marking the day the Constitution was adopted. Delhi will witness the annual grand parade.

The New Delhi Municipal Council has issued guidelines to ensure a respectful disposal of the National Flag after Republic Day celebrations are over

The Flag Code of India says that when the Flag is in a damaged or soiled condition, it should be destroyed as a whole in private, by any method consistent with the dignity of the Flag.

The NDMC has also released a centralised number and the NDMC 311 app to lodge a request for deposition.

All the RWAs, Market Trader Association and residents of the NDMC area have been requested to deposit flags at the Area Sanitation Office.

The NDMC said that for disposal, all individuals have been advised to call the centralised number '1533'.

The NDMC has directed its sanitation staff to ensure that proper protocol is followed while collecting and disposing the National Flag as per the 'Flag Code'.
