The Commission for Air Quality Management has imposed stage 3 of Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) as air quality worsens.
Delhi’s Air Quality Index was measured crossed the 400 mark on the evening of November 2. AQIs over 400 are ‘hazardous.’
The plan restricts some activities in the national capital. Most of these only halt non-essential activities.
The pollution control panel issued directions to halt non-essential construction work, stone crushing and mining in Delhi-NCR.
The order banned entry of light commercial vehicles registered outside Delhi. Non-essential medium and heavy goods vehicles are also restricted.
Delhi registered India’s highest AQI on November 2, with neighbouring areas like Noida and Faridabad trailing close behind.
