Gaganyaan’s flagship test mission is set for Oct. 21, 2023 as India looks to expand its spaceflight capabilities. It will be an unmanned mission.
India’s space agency ISRO unveiled the project, which aims to send a crew of 3 members to an orbit of 400 km for a 3-day mission and landing safely.
The upcoming mission, dubbed TV-D1, will use a single-stage liquid rocket. ISRO has called it a ‘short-duration mission.’
ISRO will carry out at least two such test missions to test emergency protocols and crew escape mechanisms for a manned mission.
The TD-V1 mission launch will be from Sriharikota in Andhra Pradesh. It is scheduled for 8 AM and will be broadcast.
