In 1989, then PM Rajiv Gandhi suspended 63 Lok Sabha MP in a single day. The action on Dec 18 broke that record

Why?

The suspension happened after an uproar broke out due to Justice Thakkar Commission of Inquiry into assassination of Indira Gandhi was tabled in LS.
