Born on January 28, 1992, in Junagadh, Gujarat, Munawar Faruqui hails from a Gujarati Muslim family.
His challenging upbringing forced him to quit school at grade five and take up odd jobs to support himself.
At 10, Munawar witnessed his home destroyed in the Godhra riots and became homeless.
At 14, he relocated to Dongri, Mumbai, where he worked various jobs to survive after his mother's passing.
In January 2020, Munawar Faruqui posted his debut stand-up comedy video, ‘Politics in India, Instagram & Sign Boards.’
His ‘Ghost Story’ video garnered 21 mn views on YouTube. He also collaborated with Indian musician Spectra to release the song ‘Jawab’ in Aug 2020.
In 2021, he was arrested after BJP MLA’s son Eklavya Singh Gaur accused him of making offensive jokes about Hindu deities.
The Supreme Court of India granted him bail after 37 days.
Faruqui won ‘Lock Upp’, a reality TV show hosted by Kangana Ranaut in 2022. Later, he did a Punjabi song ‘Todh’ with Prince Narula and Rony Anjali.
Munawar Faruqui won ‘Bigg Boss’ Season 17, hosted by Salman Khan, in 2023-24.
Munawar has a 5-year-old son from his ex-wife, Jasmine, whom he married in 2017 and divorced in 2022.
In Dec 2021, he started dating social media influencer Nazila Sitaishi. Later, ex-partner Ayesha Khan accused him of 2-timing with multiple women.
