Researchers have confirmed the presence of one large saltwater lake, discovered two years ago and three more water bodies around the larger one, on Mars!

According to a new study published in Nature Astronomy, the lakes cover an area of approximately 75,000 square kilometres. To put that into perspective, that is about one-fifth the size of Germany.

The discovery raises the possibility of life on the red planet.

Scientists used radar data from the European Space Agency's (ESA) orbiting Mars Express spacecraft to discover the lakes.
