Shiv Sena workers went on a rampage in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra as they protested against union minister Narayan Rane's remarks against CM Uddhav Thackeray.

Angry Sena workers clashed with BJP members and police as they tried to storm Rane's residence. Ugly street fight scenes were witnessed on the streets of Mumbai as Sena workers vented their anger against the minister.

In Nashik, Sena workers pelted stones at the BJP office. They also put up posters in Mumbai and other places, calling him a kombdi chor’, which means chicken stealer, a reference to the poultry shop he ran in Chembur five decades ago.

The union minister, while speaking in Raigad on Monday had said that it's "shameful" that a CM doesn't know the year of independence and he would have "slapped Uddhav over his ignorance".

The BJP leader and former Shiv Sena chief minister claimed that Thackeray forgot the year of independence during his August 15 address.
