In a first, 'flash flood emergency' was issued in New York City as heavy rains lashed out the region late night on Wednesday.

Non-emergency vehicles were banned from the roads and highways until 5 am.
New York's Central Park saw more than three inches of rain in an hour. City airports LaGuardia and JFK reported flight disruptions, and New Jersey’s Newark Liberty International Airport suspended all flight activity.
