As the famous Mangalore Dasara and Navratri celebrations kickstarted, artists performed the iconic 'Tiger Dance' at the Gokarnanatheshwara Temple in Mangaluru on Saturday.
Locally called Pili Vesha, it is a unique folk dance where the body is painted to resemble the skin of a tiger, cheetah or leopard.
No more than 10 performers participated in the dance and it was performed keeping special protocols in mind.
The dances are permitted within the temple premises during the festive Dasara season while other celebrations outside the temple have been banned.
