Confrontations between Palestinians and the Israeli police resumed in East Jerusalem Friday after a brief lull.
Palestinian activists had organised a run from the Sheikh Jarrah neighbourhood to Silwan on Friday afternoon, aimed to show support to the two Palestinian neighbourhoods which have been threatened with several eviction and demolition orders.
After participants raised Palestinian flags at the finish line, Israeli police immediately began to disperse the crowd.
Clashes ensued with more than a dozen people injured, and at least two Palestinian men arrested.
A long-running campaign by Jewish settlers to evict dozens of Palestinian families in east Jerusalem is still underway, even after it fueled weeks of unrest and helped ignite an 11-day Gaza conflict.
