Waste to wonder: Kenyan woman turns plastic waste into bricks

Nzambi Matee, a Kenyan woman who is a materials engineer is getting the best out of waste. Her factory recycles plastic into bricks, that they claim, are stronger than concrete. Nairobi-based Gjenge Makers upcycles plastic waste into construction materials, creating almost 1500 bricks a day, a Reuters report states. The plastic collected is mixed with sand and compressed to form bricks. So far, her factory has recycled nearly 20 tonnes of plastic waste.
