Former Foreign Secretary Vijay Gokhale has launched scathing allegations against the left parties in his recently launched book. According to Gokhale, China's involvement in Indian domestic politics stems from its 'close connection' with the left parties in India. He mentioned this specifically regarding opposition to the Indo-US nuclear deal between 2007 and 2008.
Vijay Gokhale’s new book, The Long Game: How the Chinese Negotiate with India, talks about dealing with China in the Ministry of External Affairs in 2007-09, when the deal was being negotiated.
Vijay Gokhale has served as India’s ambassador to China and in January 2018, he replaced S Jaishankar as foreign secretary and retired last year.
