While making a statement in Parliament on the civilian killings in Nagaland, Home Minister Amit Shah said that the security forces fired after the van carrying the daily wage labourers did not stop on their orders.

He said that it was later found to be a case of mistaken identity.

6 daily wage labourers were killed in Nagaland's Mon during a botched anti-insurgency operation by the Assam Rifles. 8 civilians were killed during the protests that broke out after the news of the incident spread.
