Facebook and Twitter on Tuesday warned of interference of a Russian group in the upcoming US presidential election. The two social media giants claimed that the Internet Research Agency that interfered in the 2016 elections is again using a network of fake accounts and a website set up to look like a left-wing news site. Although Facebook and Twitter have detected and removed the accounts, reports said the disinformation campaign is evidence that the Russian backed agency is trying to repeat its effort of influencing the voters against democratic candidate Joe Biden. The US intelligence agencies who had first caught the disinformation confirmed that the first activity on the site was reported in October 2019.
