In a move that could indicate that US-China are on the mend under Joe Biden, the United States and China have agreed to cooperate and work mutually to limit climate change with urgency. The decision comes ahead of US President Joe Biden hosting a virtual summit of world leaders to discuss the issue.

The agreement was reached between US special envoy for climate John Kerry and his Chinese counterpart Xie Zhenhua during two days of talks in Shanghai last week.

A joint statement by the two sides said that both nations are committed to cooperating and other countries to contain the climate crisis. The statement further said that the climate crisis must be addressed with the seriousness and urgency it demands.
