The International Association of Athletics Federation's rule to reduce naturally high levels of testosterone in female athletes has been branded 'unscientific'. According to a report published in British Medical Journal, experts say that there is a lack of evidence about testosterone's effects and the cut-off figure is arbitrary. The rule was formed by IAAF after South African runner Caster Semenya's gender test revealed a higher than normal testosterone level. The athlete later contested the legality of the new rules.
