US President Donald Trump has said he will next week nominate a woman to replace late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. His Democratic rival, Joe Biden, however insists the decision should wait until after the vote.
Addressing a rally in North Carolina, Trump said, he will be putting forth a nominee next week and it will be a woman. "I think it should be a woman because I actually like women much more than men", he added.
Female judges reportedly in his shortlist include Amy Barrett, a judge on the Seventh Court of Appeals. Trump had then also considered Amul Thapar, an Indian-American judge on the Sixth Court of Appeal. But his chances now seem slim with the president announcing he will pick a woman.
