The Bombay High Court on Monday while hearing a petition in the TRP scam case, refused to heed Republic TV's Editor-in-Chief, Arnab Goswami’s lawyer Harish Salve’s plea to provide the journalist interim protection from arrest. The court held that Arnab Goswami if named an accused in the case filed over alleged manipulation of Television Rating Points (TRPs), he would first be issued a summon by the Mumbai Police. A writ petition filed by Goswami and ARG Outlier Media Limited, that runs Republic TV and Republic Bharat sought to quash FIR registered by Kandivali police station for cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy in connection with the TRP scam. The court directed the Mumbai Police to present the results on November 4 and held that the case will be taken up next on November 5, which, it said would be the final hearing.
