Top seed and defending champion Novak Djokovic was sensationally disqualified from the US Open after hitting a line judge with a ball during his fourth-round match. Playing against Pablo Carreno Busta, the three-time winner accidentally hit the line judge with the ball and was disqualified from the tournament. After spending several minutes speaking to the main referee, the Serbian accepted the charges and walked out of the court. According to the rules, Novak Djokovic defaulted from the tournament and further lost all the ranking points and prize money from the competition. This isn't the first time that a tennis player has defaulted in a Grand slam as the last time it happened to former Wimbledon semifinalist Tim Henman in 1995.
