Tokyo paralympics: Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar clinch silver and bronze medals in High Jump

India dominates another podium this Paralympic season as Mariyappan Thangavelu and Sharad Kumar clinch silver and bronze medals respectively in the Men's High Jump T63 final on Tuesday. 25-year-old Thangavelu who won Paralympic gold in Rio 2016 clinched his 2nd consecutive Paralympic medal with a season-best jump of 1.86m. Sharad Kumar secured the third spot for the country with his season best jump of 1.83m. Varun Bhati who had also qualified for the finals finished with his best jump of 1.77 m at no, 7.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter to congratulate both the Para athletes. While he said Mariyappan is synonymous with consistency and excellence, he congratulated indomitable Sharad Kumar for bring a smile to the faces of every Indian.
