Lovlina Borgohain earned herself a bronze medal and became the 3rd Indian boxer to win an Olympic Bronze after losing to Turkey's Busenaz Surmeneli in the semifinal of the Women's Welterweight category in Tokyo.

Up against the reigning World Champion, Lovlina was struggling right from the 1st round as Surmeneli dictated terms. An outright win for the Turkish boxer helped her reach the final with a 5-0 win as Lovlina Borgohain's journey at Tokyo 2020 Olympics came to an end.

A bronze medal for the Assamese boxer as she is the 2nd Indian woman boxer to win an Olympic medal. So far in Tokyo, all 3 medals have been won by women.
