Tokyo Olympics 2020: 2,848 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours at the Japanese Capital

The Tokyo 2020 Olympics Organisers have a brewing headache. With 2,848 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, Tokyo's local government has asked the hospitals to prepare special Covid-19 wards in case there is a major surge.

The Games fraternity too have been reporting new cases consistently but the daily high of 2,848 is almost double of the last week's count is the highest since the pandemic began.

The Olympic Games are being held under extremely tough quarantine rules to prevent the spread of the virus but over 150 cases have still emerged involving athletes, officials and others.
